虽说无一物,尘埃处处盖。未经勤拂拭,何知镜非台?

There's this guy. This guy's been put in a game. One day he wakes up, he's been put in a car, who knows for what, and its cruising along. He can accelerate or slow down, but the car doesn't stop, doesn't go below a minimum speed. There are a number of different roads he can take, and somehow he knows all of them lead to the same destination, though some may take longer than others. None of them, it seems, lead back.

He takes a look around, lots of other participants are around. He doesn't really NEED to drive, it just cruises along if he doesn't pay attention, so he gets bored after a while. He invents some games to entertain himself, counting all the prettier faster cars he wishes he could be in. He goes faster a bit, see what it's like; slow down a bit, see what it's like. He sets arbitrary goals, by the end of this day I'll move past that blue car and that brown one, slow down near that red one see if I can get along with the driver. Tries different roads to see what they're like.

Sometimes he feels that he has to keep up with the others. Sometimes he feels that he's forced to conform to certain rules that the drivers around him have thought up (though the game has no rules in the first place). Sometimes he follows what others do just because it's more comfortable.

He knows the destination. It's leading to a cliff where everyone crashes with no hope of survival. He wonders how many people realize this. Some don't seem to understand, and go as fast as they can for some reason. Sometimes they crash before they reach the destination. Sometimes he speeds by accident, or just gets so emotional that he steps on the accelerator just to vent. He kind of understands.

Yet, knowing what's in store for him, all he can think about, all he stresses about, all he worries about, are things like the car's not so comfortable, the roads not so good, the other drivers piss him off, what's the best road to take. As he moves towards certain death, all he can think of is how to make the journey more comfortable.

Welcome to the game of life.
