So, perhaps, what we know about emotion is a myth.

We speak about "emotional needs". Yet maybe, it is not that these needs are important, but rather that the PERCEPTION of these needs as important creates behaviour that promotes survival.

But, just because emotional needs prompt survival behaviours, does not mean that survival behaviours can only be effective in the presence of emotional stirrings. Neither does it mean that behaviour egged on by emotional needs are always useful.

Most importantly, it does not mean that we have to heed its call.
